Hamilton Marist is set to host Cambridge-based Hautapu at Marist Park with kick off at 2.45pm. The day is club rugby’s showpiece with finals across most grades. Other finals are to be played under lights tonight (Friday).

The News understands that as provincial rugby kicks off on Thursday evening – Waikato face Auckland in the opening match – rep players have been made unavailable for the club final.

All players have taken part for most club games this season.

Hautapu co-captain Mitch Jacobson, winger Waisake Salabiau, loose forwards Andrew Smith and Senita Lauaki – all capped by Waikato in 2024 – are not named for the final.

Hamilton Marist is missing props Mason Tupaea and Gabe Robinson from their semi-final line-up. Marist is also without Tom Martin who has been named in the Counties Manukau team.

Counties Manukau have a pre-season fixture on Saturday, while no Waikato pre-season game has been announced.
