The Waipā Fun Run primary school contingent from around the Waikato get ready to warm up on a sun soaked Cambridge Oval on Sunday morning. Senior writer Mary Anne Gill was there to capture stories and photos from the annual event – and see an octogenarian cross the finish line.

Carrie Sheehan of St Peter’s School, Cambridge was first female across the line in the year 7 and 8 Waipā Fun Run challenge.

Joshua Barclay of St Peter’s School, Cambridge wins the individual year 7 and 8 title in the Waipā Fun Run.

Marian Catholic School’s Jasmine Rasmussen Shawyer of Hamilton ran in the 10km open female race and finished a credible fourth in 42:23.
