Bumper turnout for creative fibre

It’s another thumbs up for all at this month’s Cambridge Creative Fibre Exhibition and Fibre Fair held in the Cambridge Town Hall.

More than 400 people came through the doors on the only Fibre and Craft traders’ day of the five-day event, with around 250 visiting on the other days.  All those involved in the traders’ day – which attracts buyers from around the region and had them lining up across the piazza before opening time – said it had been another bumper occasion.

Cambridge Creative Fibre’s Anne Curtis, left, and New Skills award-winner Jan Soanes, take a breather after the rush on traders’ day.

Cambridge Creative Fibre’s secretary and exhibition convenor Anne Curtis said holding the event once again in the Town Hall, with the benefits of being central, had been a triumph.

“It’s really good to be back in the town centre with this exhibition.  It makes all the difference and we’ve been treated so well by the team managing the hall.”

Jan Soanes who received the New Skill award for her entry Safe as Houses (the new skill being intarsia knitting) at the Cambridge Creative Fibre annual exhibition and craft fair in the Cambridge Town Hall.

A new award this year (Joy Mahood Spinning Award) went to Cynthia Read.
