Eighty seven St Peter’s dance students competed in the DanceNZ Made regional competition at Clarence Street Theatre last month, taking out the ‘Rise Up’ dance award – the top award of the evening as the overall regional champions.

The group of dancers – Rhiannon Thomas, Georgia Burkhart, Samara Mockford and Stella Soar – earned the big award with a dance choreographed by Rhiannon, and qualified for the national competition.

Leading up to the big night, students participated in a day of workshops and competed in the evening – in the form of nine troupes, two student-choreographed pieces and 11 soloists, with St Peter’s students making fifteen top placings.
