Hautapu came out on top in the Waikato Club Rugby premier battle of the Waipā against Te Awamutu Sports on Saturday.

The home side won the premier A Breweries Shield clash 31-8 at Cambridge Memorial Park.
Speedster Waisake Salabiau scored three tries for Hautapu, while number eight David Morris and fullback Nathan Stephens also scored. Pivot Patrick Hedley converted three of his team’s tries.
Left winger Jonan Heke-Heays was the sole try scorer for Te Awamutu and midfielder Austin Anderson, on his return from the Brumbies, slotted a penalty.

University beat Leamington 41-20 in the premier A Lone Star Cup division.
Centre Robert Day scored 10 points off the kicking tee for Leamington, while loose forward Hirini Murfitt and outside back Jarrod Davey grabbed tries at the University complex.
Both Cambridge club B teams won their matches by default.
In the women’s premiership, Mel-tap (Melville-Hautapu combined) were beaten 22-19 by Suburbs at Collins Road.
Blindside flanker Lachyn Moeke, lock Kyra Mita and reserve Katie Hepi-Hagan crossed the chalk for Mel-tap and fullback Keira Russell converted twice.
Pirongia hosted Leamington in the under-21 division, beating them 39-15. Try scorers for the visiting side were reserves Lachlan Cattley and Riley Jackman as well as captain William Lord.
In another battle of the Waipā, Hautapu colts dealt to their Te Awamutu Sports opponents 47-5 in Cambridge.
Number eight Jack Mathis (two), fullback Kaden Tohia (two), openside Noah Walker, winger Morgan Baker and Jack O’Dwyer crossed the chalk for the home side. First five-eighth Cooper Young kicked five conversions and Mathis one.
