Autumn Festival
Just as the ginko leaves show early signs of yellowing, so this year’s Cambridge Autumn Festival kicks off with tickets going on sale this week to many of the associated concerts and shows.
The 2026 chairperson John Drummond said the full programme is now available and tickets for concerts went on sale on Tuesday.

He said the line-up for the March 20 to 29 festival will see new additions join popular favourites, with a key free event being the Main Street Carnival. There is a comprehensive range of concerts, featuring singers, blues musicians, a boogie pianist, a three-generation band, jazz and swing, and an orchestral event.
Besides those, there will be a comedy night, a 50th anniversary celebration of the Rocky Horror Show with a movie night and best-costume competition, plenty of activities for younger festival goers, and the return of Repair Revolution Waipā with several hands-on workshops teaching household repairs.
Two art exhibitions and sales, one at the town hall and the other the open-studio event at artists’ studios will be featured, as will an exhibition of photographs and quilts.
Drummond also told The News that a record 600 entries have come in for this year’s short story competition, an impressive jump on the last record of 285.
